I want to know if I can set-up a simple network in one department at my workplace. I would like three workstations to be able to communicate as well as have a fourth computer to act as a file sharing repository. I want to connect them in the following manner. Since none of these computers is allowed internet access I want to use ethernet cables, not wifi, to connect them all I figure connect them all to a small network switch or hub. Setup a LAN connection and put them all in a workgroup. Would that do the job? Basically, the server (file share pc) would feed hub or switch via an ethernet cable then three more ethernet cables out to the individual workstations, on their own LAN and workgroup...
