My computer (Win 2000 Pro) is the primary one in my home network with three other computers (2 Win 2000, other Win 95) operating on a TCP/IP network. Suddenly my computer can not see the drives in one of the Win2000 computers and that computer can not see the drives in my computer. But communication to and from the other two computers operates as before. Have tried a new cable from the hub to the problem computer – no change.
I tried removing and then replacing the Drive Mapping in both computers. Strangely both computers allowed me to map the drives in the other but when trying to access a folder in a drive on the other computer the drive and its directory structure shows but when double click on a file get the drive not available message.
Attempt to access directory on the other computer – Explorer shows the drive and directory structure but when attempt to open a file Explorer appears to lock up for a long period and eventually gives a message saying the remote file is notavailable.
However my Secretary has no trouble using the Internet through Internet Sharing with the modem on my computer and she is able to print using the printer on my computer.
When I try to contact the Secretary computer the Event Viewer in my computer produces the following error messages – multiple times –
