SMB Broadcast Explanation Wanted

By claytont ·
Using SMS's network monitoring tool I have discovered a single server (NT 4.0 - Exch 5.5) broadcasting a lot of SMB traffic. I can't seem to find any details on exactly what this traffic is or if it should be occuring. The description is listed as"c transact, File = \MAILSLOT\BINDERY". Any details would be appreciated.

It sounds like you have a Novell Groupwise connector running on that server. Check your connections and protocol's and make sure you don't have unneccesaary connectors/protocols running.
Good Luck
