SMS ADVERTISEMENT STATUS PROBLEM

By dubberly ·
Okay,

i have just sat through three weeks of SMS training and no lab yet has been able to help me figure out why, even after I send a package and advertise it, and it is sdelivered, I look under my Site Status for advertisements, and nothing! Anyone have a clue to why it is not working, or where I should look for the solution?

SMS ADVERTISEMENT STATUS PROBLEM

I assume that your packages contain source files and that you placed these on distribution points. If you haven't designated distribution ponts then you will not advertisment status - the advertisment will only occur AFTER your package is available for install.

If your package does NOT contaion source files (I have an SMS Package that updates the clocks on NT Workstaions on my domain) then you shoudl get advertisment status immediately.

Advertisment status is also under System Status -> Advertisment Status(not site status).

First question I would ask is are you working at the SMS 2.0 SP2 level. There were quite a few issues with package/advertisement status reporting prior to SP2.

If we are talking SMS 2.0 SP2, then I highly recommend using the Advertview tool. You can use AdvertView to provide a comprehensive status of advertisement on
individual SMS-based clients or collections over various user-defined intervals. Check out MS Q272436 "SMS: Support Utilities Updated in Service Pack 2" for information on Advertview.
