Evening all. VERY new to this so please bear with me. Was hoping somebody could help me with a few issues we are having.
We have Microsoft Server 2003 and use Microsoft Exchange 2003 to manage our emails. 1 server, 7 machines and a switch.
We can all recieve emails fine (both internally and externally) and can also send internally.
However, when we try to send an email externally we get: There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipients email server. Please contact your system administrator. 550 Auth required.
I am assuming this is due to us recieving email on mail.joebloggs.com but using a seperate smtp which needs authorzation? (not sure on this tho, or even if that is the case, which brings me to my question…)
If this is the case how can I find out where exchange is trying to send its emails from and add authentication if required. Presumably for the authentication I use my ISP username and password?? Is it as straight forward as configuring it in outlook for pop/smtp?
If its not likely to be that does anybody have any ideas on what it could be??
Any advise/tips in baby talk would be hugely appreciated.
