SNMP over the internet?

By dw84 ·
I am still kind of new to this type of management however I am trying to monitor a test pc over the internet and cannot seem to get it going. I have tried public and private strings and I am not sure if this is even the problem. I am not sure if the router is blocking me or not, it allows RDP fine. I have tried disabling the firewall as well and put 161 and 162 udp ports on the exception and still nothing. Any Ideas?

Few things to check

Few things to check.
1. SNMP service(poll) installed on your PC monitored and makes sure SNMP service starts to run.
2. Firewall side, add SNMP port. 161.

If you are monitoring PCs which are running on Windows based, you might want to try Spiceworks with WMI (window management Instrument) protocols. It brings more and details.
