I'm really not trying to be too harsh, but you do need it.

IT is a competitive field.

School is best bet

Statistics show that the higher your education level, the higher your income on average. Over a life time, this makes a big difference.

Exceptions like Bill Gates (dropping out of college) make for nice stories, but they stand out only because you never hear of the overwhelming majority of people who have *not* hit the jackpot by going the unconventional way.

Getting real work experience while in college (during breaks or throughout) is a good idea, however. If you have a decent idea and starting a business, even small, is an option, do that; entrepreneurship is valued by many job interviewers (and prestigiuous graduate schools).

You NEED more education

by wordworker In reply to So were do you find a job ...

With all due respect, you need the help that you can get only in a classroom. Your spelling and grammar are atrocious. If you speak as poorly as you write, you are going to have a tough time landing any job that doesn't require you to wear a paper hat.

Heed the advice given in the other posts. The more education you have, the more money you will earn. That four to six years you spend in school can be the most exciting and satisfying years of your life. You get to expand your mind, sit in classes with people from all walks of life and from all around the world, go to dorm parties.

You'll be 20-something soon and you'll be going to work in your 8-6:30 job, longing for the good old days when all you had to worry about was getting a paper written or a program debugged for a class project.

Work hard and enjoy school while you can, Jules.
