SOA and web service for malicious code detection

By madhavd ·
I'm a final year B.tech student and my final year project is "Developing an Application to secure organizational network from malicious code"

i'm thinking of implementing this as a web service and implementing it in a simulated SOA.
I wanted to know if it's possible to create a web service for detecting malicious code using XML,WSDL etc?

I'm still studying up on web services so I have only basic idea how they are implemented.

Limit your scope

I don't think this is possible depending upon at what level you are trying to detect malicious code at. If im understanding correctly, this is already done by antivirus/malware vendors and IDS/IPS systems at host and network level except not necessarily in an SOA model. If you limit your scope it may be possible, for example, a web service that parses user input from all web forms to be filtered through the service first. Remember there will be additional delays for checking each bit of information that is checked. The other end of this is parsing server side code or code that is already compiled on the host which i believe may be near impossible or at minimum impractical.
