Software

By don_pham ·
I have two questions:
1. Recently my user just downloaded and installed some kind of software, but end up the PC needed to reboot and he could not get back to the windows. It kept rebooting when it gets to the logon window. I had tried many different ways to window. I finaly i got in the window by using safe mode, and uninstall the software but it still doing the same thing. This is the 1st time i have seen.
2. Do you know any third party software that allow to remote and deploy software remotely. I had use the SMS but it requires so much document to read. Some thing is simple and easy for any one can use.
I greatly appreciate for your response.

The software likely damaged a driver file, or the registry.

It may even have installed an older version of a DLL file.

The simplest way to get back running, is to boot from a startup floppy (or the CD if supported) and re-install Windows.

Unless you know specifically what the software changed when it installed, there is no easy fix for the problem.

I agree with TheChas answer. It is a problem of some drivers or DLL files. Since you can boot up to Safe Mode (Safe Mode does not load the drivers, that's why a lot of things is so ugly and non-functioning), it means that it is not the OS problem. Just some conflicting driver files.

If you are using 98 or ME, go to Start->Run, type in msconfig and a utility will appear. Under the Startup Tab, there is a list of drivers that is loaded once you enter windows. Unchecked or disable all of them and try to enable them one by one and restarting your PC to normal mode in between. You will then know where the problem lies as soon as you see the problem again. Then, go back to safe mode and disable that particular driver from the Startup list in msconfig. Do not stop there. Do the same for the remaining drivers, it may cause the problem, too.

Try it. It works for me. Good Luck!
