My company has an increasing number of users with laptops (10 at present). As a result, I’ve started looking into ways to making them more secure. This, of course, includes data encryption, physical lockdown and, if necessary, recovery if lost or stolen. Most of these units are either Window 2000- or Windows XP-based with some Macs, too. We’ve been running Windows 9x forever (it seems…) and so I’m relatively new to W2K and XP (not to mention I know nothing about Macs). My plans are to start out by learning more about the built-in security features of W2K, XP and Macs. But I’m also looking for feedback as to third-party products–hardware and software–that I should consider as well as others users’ successes and failures with them. Thanks in advance for whatever help TR members can provide.
