Software RAID 0 with 2 HDDs and a partition?
I'm trying to make a software RAID 0 volume using windows xp dynamic disk option. Can I pull this of with 3 HDDs; two identical 80 GB Maxtors and one 80 GB partition of a 120 GB Maxtor? I will use the other 40 GB to create an install partition for windows xp. NOTE: The drives are IDE so not all drives will be on the same channel. But I thought this didn't matter for software RAID.
Might it also be possible to create 6 partitions of 40 GB or maybe even 12 partitions of 20 GB to become dynamic disks, and if so will this increase performance too?
