Software Restriction

By truongvincent ·
Windows XP and 2003 has Software Restriction that can be applied as a GPO. Windows 2000 does not have this function. Is there any way to prevent users from installing software and yet allow .dll to run and apply it as a GPO in Windows 2000.

Perhaps 1st Security Admin might help you out. It's a free program you can search for on google to find a download location. I would tell you except for I don't remember their website address. I hope this helps if not, my apologies

In group policy you can restrict the use of files by name. Try restricting setup.exe, or install.exe.

Good luck,
