Solaris: can’t change password

by asif . Updated 18 years, 2 months ago

hi,

When I try to change a password (from root or any user), I get the following result:

# passwd 12345
New Password:
Re-enter new Password:
Permission denied
#

i used command *#passwd -f root* to Forcefully change the root passwd. now when i try to logon the system wiht root it will prompt me to change the passwd. and when i give the passwd it shows again permission denied message..

because of this now i can’t log on to the system with root user.

i have also a simple user *test* on same system.

plese help me in this regard and reply me shortly..

thnx in advance..

regards,

asif
