Solaris UNIX 9 and Oracle RDBMS 8.0.4

By getshaka ·
Oracle RDBMS 8.0.4 is not certified to run on Sun Solaris UNIX 9 which means Oracle has never tested 8.0.4 on this platform. Could any one say whether 8.0.4 could run on Solaris 9?....and has anyone tried it and what was the experience like? Was any problems encountered? Does it work properly?...

We have been running Oracle 8 on Solaris 9 without problems, but only in test.
I would recommend that you upgrade to later release
of Oracle. You can configure the instance with in 8 compatibility mode. Be aware that the optimizing of
the sql's take longer time because of more possibilities in newer versions.
