Solutions 6 printing problem on the dotm

By peterbakker ·
The client has problems printing to their dotmatrix printer kxp1695, The problem is when they print from Solutions 6 (accounting program)

If they print to the Konica photocopier first and then print to the dotmatrix it won't print the whole report on the dotmatrix.

The only way to get around is to reboot the PC.

The dotmatrix printer is plugged into the WinNT server and the local machine is Windows 98.

Thankyou
Regards Peter

Have you tried reinstalling the drivers of the Panasonic dot matrix printer?

If it works fully on a clean slate (after a reboot), then its running into resource/memory difficulties.

This is from a local computer to a local printer? Start --> Run --> Msconfig --> and check Selective Startup and then go to the Startup tab and remove everything except Systray and Explore (these two are the only TRSs that need to be loaded on boot for Windows to operate). Then check/test the clients printer. You can add things back into memory as needed.

First a few questions.

1. Did this ever work?
2. How is KXP1695 connected,prallel or serial?
3. Will print finish if sent to the KXP1695 only?
4. Is the copier a multi-purpose unit, otherwise how do they print to a copier?

Since the Panasonic seems to be dropping data a change to the spool settings may help. In the printer properties under the details tab then spool settings select print direct and raw.

Especially if this is DOS based software and even if windows both of the printers probalby need to be captured to a port. Are they set up with network naming instead of to a LPT port?

Since the both are already installed, go to the properties of the printers and select details choose capture port find the printer in the list and select it.

For a clean install make sure the print server has the drive files. Go to network n-hood and find the printer right click the icon and select capture port. The driver will automatically load, done. Obviously the port cannot be LPT1 since its the local port. The LPT port may need to be setup in the software too.

Good luck
