Hi,

Can you provide some more info please? For example what application are you trying to view the pictures with, and also, do all the picture files have a .jpg (or .jpeg) file extension? If so, is that type of file extension associated in Windows with the software you are trying to use?

If the filenames do not end with .jpg what do they end with?

Can you view them if you open your viewing software first and then File --> Open to browse the picture you want to see (instead of double clicking the picture file name to open the viewing application)?

Thanks

Also, do you receive any error message when trying to view the picture files?

There is no way, I know very well the situations you have describe, no softwares is able to open the image, further as I mentioned few files of the same SD card can be viewed and some are not. The image size showing the same (20 to 24 MB), and off course these files are with extension jpg

The only thing that I can think of here is that the bigger .JPG Files are too big for the system to handle and work a 24 MEG file is big by any standard.

Can you have a look and see if you can consistently open the smaller files and not the bigger ones? Or the other way around you can only open the bigger files and not the smaller ones. The whole thing doesn't make much sense unless there is insufficient computing capacity to open the bigger files or ones above a certain size.

Also what OS is being used here to and can you list the Software that is currently loaded onto the system?

Can you transfer these files to another computer and view them all from that one?

Sorry but unless you can give us something more to work with I don't think that anyone will be able to offer any suggestions as none of us know what is happening here or what we are supposed to be working with. The possible answer for a Windows Machine will be totally different to an OSX machine and then the version of the OS will also come into play here as well.

Thank you dear HAL. I clearly stated that technically I am sound in all this matters, I always recovered pictures images (jpg) from different stored media like Chip Cards, HDD etc. But in this particular case my client bring in photo with the complain stated. I tried lot to repair jpg images (reason unknown why it is happened) some other pictures in the same folder is being viewed clearly (off course of the same size)

Well in that case can you get a hold of the Card and see if you can copy or recover the images from it?

It sounds as if either the Card is going bad or the download to the computer was some how corrupted.

With a lot of photo files they are viewed as Thumbnails in the software and that could be the reason why the owner could see them the previous night but not now. As he/she only took a quick look at the images to make sure that they dad downloaded. With something like the H2 Blad you can have problems with the bigger files as the USB fails to transfer them correctly. That's from personal experience and you defiantly need to use the Blad Transfer USB Lead instead of one of the cheaper After Market ones. The Blad cable for some reason works better and you have to use it I don't know if that is the case here but it could be or maybe even the USB Lead has been damaged and is starting to give problems.

Either way if you can get your hands on the Card before it's used again you stand a good chance of managing to save the images.

Well I wouldn't be hopeful but you can try this as a 30 Day Trial version and see if it can pick up anything useful.

Well if that is the case I would imagine that those images are gone for good unless of course he willing to pay for some Forensic work that can recover the different Data Layers but it's not cheap and I've only seen Government Agiencies actually use it for Criminal matters mainly because of the cost and you destroy the drive as well.

Even that probably wouldn't work if the images had a bad download and where corupted from the start.

If you'r into Hex there is always Win Hex from X Ways which it a great tool but it's not for those who are below the expert level with Hex.

Though the Forensic option just might work with the Card. and it should be cheaper than a HDD. Or even the Win Hex Forensic Package might be of some help though I p[ersonally wouldn't be holding my breath waiting for a positive result.

Thanks HAL, Yes I have already checked the Memory Card, but unfortunately it was already used twice and folder "DCIM" was already overwritten. There is no way to recover the old pix. BLAD cable is off course a better choice, but at present??
