I have Samba working both ways from my laptop to a win2K server. (I’m a 3 week old user and quickly becoming a convert)
1. My machine will only let me mount a drive as root, either locally or to the server. Did I do something in my permissions to mess this up or is this normal? If I messed it up is there a place to go to change the mount permissions back? I have searched through the various Linuxconf and Userconf but was unsure about what I was looking for. Also when logged on as a user I cannot create a directory in the /mnt folder. Is this normal as well?
2. In my directory tree I show a Network icon with FTP Archives, Local Network and Web Sites below it. When I click on the Local Network icon I get a message “Could not connect to host localhost”. Is this normal? What activates this or causes this problem? I assumed it was something like Network Neighborhood in Windows.
