Some users can't open ssl sites

Beginning last Thursday we experienced a problem where certain users on certain computers could not go to SSL sites using IE6. This problem does not occur in Mozilla, etc. If a users experiences this issue on one XP PC he may or may not on another XP PC. Likewise, it does not affect all users of the same PC. The issue also occurs in Terminal Services (non-Citrix). I have tried deleting cookies, security settings, clearing SSL certs, etc. I have scanned for viruses, spyware etc. with no luck. Our consultant spect 7 hours on the phone with Microsoft Friday with no luck. Then late Friday with no changes almost all of the PCs statrted working again. We still have 1 terminal server and a handful of PCs that still have the problem. Has anyone seen this?

What errors are showing in the event logs of the workstations and the servers?

Did the TS run out of connection licenses and you rebooted it and it recovered?

well, here goes repeating all the stuff the consultant tried in her 7 hours on the phone but...
If you can connect to SSL- secured (128-Bit) Web sites when you are logged on as a different user, your user profile may be corrupted.

We tried deleting profiles but in many cases the error reoccurs after a few logins on the same machine. Even when it doesn't it still doesn't adress the root cause as it was sudden and widespread. My first thought was a virus etc but I can't find anything that would cause this particular behavior.

Check your Group Policy for different usergroups and machines. GP does crazy things.
