Sonic XPRS 2 and Netmeeting

By California Dead Head ·
I need to open my firewall to be able to run netmeeting 3.01. I have a Sonic XPRS2 firewall orunning NAT. I want wan users to be able to come in from the internet to a local machine on my LAN that is hosting a netmeeting call to share an application. Can anyone tell me what I need to do in my firewall to open it to netmeeting. i have been to Microsoft and found that netmeeting article that pertains to firewall but that fix does not appear to be enough. Be specific. Thanks in advance

Netmeeting uses TCP port 3389 (as does Windows 2K Terminal Services).
So, you could direct that port to your workstation's internal IP address.
Just make sure your security procedures are in place, since having that port open to the Internet is a serious security risk.

hope this helps

That port is already open but Netmeeting still does not respond. I can use it on the LAN and it responds but when someone outside tries it never get through.

Did you try a port scan from outside the firewall, to make sure 3389 is open and responsive?
