Sony DCR-HC21

My pc cannot recognize my camera.
I have checked device manager and there are no problems there.
I’ve tried both a USB cable and the Firewire cable.
Sony has NO tech support at all.
Another support group said to buy Dazzle for $100.00 and it would work.
I do not want to put ANY more money into this camera. If there is a FREE version of Dazzle out there somewhere-that would begreat.
I wish I’d never bought it.
I will never buy another Sony product that’s for sure!
Has anyone found a solution to this problem yet?
From reviews I’ve read it seems to be happening a lot with this model.
