Sony Vaio dead after bios upgrade.

By willvc ·
I have a sony Vaio pcgfx370. It was working fine till yesturday when i flashed a bios upgrade from sony support page. After it created the floppy boot disk, it told me to restart and when it asked me if i wanted to upgrade the bios, i said yes and and the screen went blank. Now i turne it on and nothing seems to be working, only the power supply. I mean power light is on but not even the sony start screen shows up. Hd light doesnt turn on either. Cd rom opens but does not read cd's. If anyone knows what i can do to fix this your help[ will be apreciated. thanks

I would talk to Sony, especially if your Vaio is under warranty or a service agreement.

If you can get another BIOs floppy to work, try to flash with the original BIOS version, or an older one. Make sure it is for your machine, if Sony has it available. Otherwise, you may need a new BIOS chip.

See this, particularly under 'recovery'. <br>

I once had some links to very good sites about the dangers of flashing the BIOS, how to back it up, and how to recover. I believe one site had software for the backup and recovery. If I can find the links, I'll post them.

thanks for youe help. I've tried contacting sony support but the warranty expired and i cant get the original bios download on their web page. The only problem i have is that the floppy disk is not reading either. Im guessing there has to be a program to upload the bios from another computer to the laptop. Just can't seem to find it. thanks for your info.
