Sony Vaio laptop

Hey my stupid laptop I bought in 99 won’t start.

I hibernate it often, tho’ I also shut it down periodically because I know it’s bad to always have it sleeping or hibernating.

There is basically just one thing I can think of: something’s wrong with the power supply. What makes me really worried, tho’, is that the dang thing is plugged into the wall outlet. I almost never use the battery. So, is it possible that the actual cable is just dead and it ran out of battery power while hibernating?

Before I go out and get all spendy at the electronics joint, I was just wondering if there were many other factors that might cause this problem. It seems to me that trojans or worms or just all those other what-have-yous would need the computer to at least boot up to a certain point. All that happens is the green light comes on, the others flash for a second, and then they just all shut off again, within one second.

Am I mistaken? I just don’t wanna go blow money and then come back to, “Hey, dummy; you needed to take it to CompUSA and have them hold it for weeks on end just to wipe all your storage and charge you hundreds of dollars.”
