This the first time working on one. I have had to backup and use the restore CD, because of trojan and virus on the computer. My problem is that the restore cd stops at a point and will not compleat. It is a PCG-GRX-560, it had XP home on it. And the person who used it was in collage, with antivirus but did not know how to use it. I got the laptop ran clean disk, defrag and scan disk. But the computer still ran slow and would not record a cd. So I backed up the needed files to an external hard drive and started the restore.
I put in the restore cd #1 and it got to formating the drive 31% and gave an error, unknown error and press anykey to exit. After that when I boot to the restore cd it ether gives a error no operating system or a dump screen. It has no floppy drive so I can not use any disk, and it will not boot to a USB device. I talked with a support person who was out sourced, he did not understand what I wanted to do. I removed the ac adapter and let the laptop run down and tried it a second time, it will go to the restore screen but I get the same results.
