Sort an Excel list by font color

Is it possible to sort an Excel list by font color?
I receive lists downloaded from Unix files, in excess of 1000 rows, up to 10 columns wide, in which the font color of the data alternates every line between black and red (for example). The data on line 2 corresponds to the data on line 1; the data on line 4 corresponds to that on line 3; and so on. I want to separate the black rows from the red rows, and place the data from the red rows in columns next to the black rows, leaving no blank rows. I already use a technique of placing an asterisk in a blank column to the right of every red line, then sorting on that column so that all the blacks are together, followed by all the reds, and then moving the red block up next to the black one; then I delete the asterisks. Can anyone suggest a less clumsy method?
