S.O.S. - USB autorun a file

By MMNorCal ·
I am not tech at all. BUT I would like to have a file pop up on the screen, ready to open, when I plug in my USB. I read a few things - but just can't make it work. Help!? Not sure what I am doing wrong - would really appreciate the "USB autorun/open for dummies version" of step by step instructions - did I mention for dummies (that's me when it comes to tech) Thanks! Oh -and how do I get to the root of the USB??? Thanks again!

try this:
http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/how-to-autorun-programs-from-usb-flash-drive-and-add-custom-icons/

Also, to get to the 'root' of your USB drive you need only click on it from "My computer" or "Computer" or the "Desktop" etc. depending on your operating system.

the next step??

by MMNorCal In reply to No worries

Hi!
OK -so this is what I have for autorun.inf saved on my USB (along with Acrobat program and my PDF file;
[autorun]
open=acrobat.exe
action=acrobat open program

That part works perfect - Acrobat launches right away.
BUT how do I get it to open up my PDF file right away too??
I've tried shellexecute and nothing. I've tied a few other things I found online and nothing.... Any thoughts??

Thanks - I appreciate your time - if you ever need graphic design questions answered I'll be happy to help! :)
