running w XP with sound card CMI783. from time to time i am getting blue screen with a message " hardware problem, call your vendor" then i have to power down. i found out that i dont get this problem when the sound card is out. i am getting this problem more often when i use sound or play clips with sound. replaced s. card didnt solve the prob. reinstall drivers & driver update still no good. device menager says "device is working properly. switched pci slot, the same. it looks like blue screen of deth but not . no file name no mem. address, only 2 lines of text appreciate your help. thank you in advance

Try any Creative (http://www.creative.com) sound card, just not the original Soundblaster, too many compatibility issues. That's all I've been using with my XP machines since 2001. No problems to date.
If not Creative then any soundcard that has the "Made for Windows XP" logo will do fine.
