Sound problem with new HDD

by nols . Updated 24 years, 4 months ago

I have a Sound Blaster Live, 10GB HDD running at 5400rpm and everything was 100% until I installed a new 17 GB HDD running at 7200rpm (not sure about the exact rpm there – but I know it is definately faster).

Now, whenever I play sound from this new HDD (games, mp3’s etc.) I get funny noises. The sound the disc makes when it reads/writes data is not supposed to be heard, right, but it seems as if it is amplified through the sound card. That is why I am hearing it through my speakers.

Any ideas on what might be causing this?
I doubt strongly that it’s software.
