Sound Problems

By VAR1016 ·
I would very much appreciate a little help with this. Quite frequently, I find that I cannot get any sound - say from a YouTube video or other media sites like Playlist.com - but I still get the Windows "wav" sounds so it's not an audio system problem.

Re-starting the computer solves the problem -until the next time.

System details: HP Pavilion, AMD 2 x 2M+, 2GB ram, Vista.

Thanks in advance.

Paul

This may help

by Jacky Howe In reply to Sound Problems

There is still a lot of bugs in Vista and I am hoping that the release of SP1 will address them.

A couple of things to try

by Jacky Howe In reply to Thanks - But

On your browser click tools, internet options, advanced under Multimedia check that 'play sounds in web pages' is marked.

I use Firefox which does not have the "multimedia" feature you mentioned; however I have bookmarked the YouTube site you sent - thanks - for future reference.

The computer has been fineall day today - yesterday the sound stopped three or four times! Very strange

Where the problem lies

by VAR1016 In reply to Sound Problems

I have located this strange problem: it lies within Firefox. Re-start Firefox and the sounds come back (and the videos work).

They always work in IE, but I much prefer Firefox!
