SP2 adds kinks to universities' back-to-school plans

By Beth Blakely ·
ENT reported that some higher learning facilities are miffed at the timing of SP2's release. http://entmag.com/news/rss.asp?editorialsid=6344 If Microsoft had kept to previously published timelines and delivered the update in June, college IT personnel would have had two months to plan for the bandwidth issues and broken applications that cropped up as students returned to school and downloaded SP2 file and installed its Windows Firewall component. However, in a discussion on ENT, some posters said the real problem is "sys admins who aren't doing their jobs." Others said that preparation for such a rollout depends heavily on the way IT is structured in the University environment. If you're an IT manager in an academic environment, share your experience with the SP2 rollout.
