I am trying to update a Dell Optiplex GX260 to SP2. Everything installs fine withoug incident until it reboots. I receive the blue screen stop error code 0x0000007F (0x0000000D, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000). Microsoft is no help. When I was on tech support with them, I was told they couldn’t figure it out and would escalate it to tier level 2. Well it’s been a week and still have not heard back.
Things I’ve tried are:
Booting in SafeMode and installing;
Turning off all startup items in MSCONFIG;
Removed all adbots and viruses (first thing I did).
Can’t figure out why this unit will not take SP2. This unit belongs to a professor and has important info and software on it so as a last resort would I consider reformatting, but I don’t want to take the chance of doing that if this is going to happen again. Anyone run into this issue?
