Spam/Malware/Spyware/Virus - Alert

By VAR1016 ·

I thought you might like to know about this. One of my Gmail accounts was invaded and a number of messages were sent under my name with the following text:

how are you doing recently?
I would like to introduce you a very good company and its website is

. It can offer you all kinds of electronic products
that you may be in need, such as laptops ,gps ,TV LCD,cell
phones,ps3,MP3/4,motorcycles and etc........
You can take some time to have a check ,there must be something
interesting you 'd like to purchase .
The contact email: . MSN:

TEL: 0086+137 1783 2610
Hope you can enjoy yourself in shopping from that company !

I discovered that the settings on my account had been changed so that "out of office auto reply" was turned on and the above message added as a "signature". I have reported this to Google and also ensured a "Red" rating on Web of Trust. I looked at System Restore and found that yesterday (when the messages started being sent - my girlfriend alerted me with a "What's this about?") and found that something called Software Distribution Service 3.0 had appeared at 10.05 yesterday.

I wonder how this managed to invade? I use HTTPS exclusively.
