SpeedTouch 580 – NAPT Problems

by magicbob . Updated 18 years, 11 months ago

Hi,

I have a weird problem with NAT translation on a Alcatel/Thomson Speedtouch 580. Hopefully I can explain it all ok, cos it?s a little convuluted !

Basically I have port 8080 port forwarded onto a server on the LAN. This is to allow a download from an external webpage of certain files which are stored on the local server

Everything works fine when connecting in from a machine outside the LAN. The download link works fine.

However problems occur when users try to connect from the internal LAN. They goto the external webpage, but when they click on the link (which picks up stuff from the local server), nothing happnes, it just hangs.

I?ve run pings, traceroutes and telnets from the internal lan to the external IP address of our router, and nothing seems to get forwarded onto the local server from internally.

Really not sure where the problem is here, have spent ages trying to crack it. Any ideas if it?s a configuration problem with the Speedtouch 580? Or do I need to lookssomewhere else?

Any help would be highly appreciated !

Thanks,

Robin
