    Spell check in Outlook Express 5.0

    Outlook Express in Win 98 2nd Edition has the spell check on the task bar “grayed “out. Also in “new message” window when you go to “tools” drop down menu the “spelling” option is grayed out. Cosequently there is no spell checking taking place. I cannot figure out how to “turn” it on even after checking the Microsoft Knowledge Base.

      It may not be activated upon install.
      Go to control panel
      Double-click on the add remove programs Icon
      Click on the Win Setup tab
      In the setup window click on Internet Explorer
      Click on details button
      Check the Outlook Express box
      Click OK and you will be prompted for operating system cd.Hope this helps

        Sorry I took so long to get back to you. I was hoping I would’nt have re-install since that involved saving my folders and addresses. I could’nt find any other solution so your suggestion did work. Thanks a bundle.
