Splitting cables between two jacks.

By Schadeboy2002 ·
Everyone, I need some support. I work with an IT professional who has some quirky practices, and I need to get some ideas on what I can show him that will support my side of the debate that his practices are, quite frankly, not good ones. We have just finished wiring up a new building, and it has come to my attention that he has actually wired two jacks on a single CAT-5 cable in several locations throughout this new building. In other words, two pair of wires have been wired to one jack, and the other two have been wired to the other jack. Aside from violating CAT-5 standards, I feel that there are a number of other problems with this practice. I have already noted a problem with intermittent connectivity with a connection wired in this manner. Another problme is that my boss supports this practice. I need some support and hope that y'all out there might have some things that need to be considered in regards to this.

I look forward to the flurry of answers that I hope to get.
