Spool Folder

Laptops with Windows 2000 Hard drives are always full to the capcity. After I have trouble shoot the problem, I discovered that a Folder named PRINTERS holds *.tmp files keeps holding on to these files. This folder can be found WINNT–>System32—>Spool—>Printers.
Is there anyway I can stop this from happening?
