Spool32 errors

By jlwhitman ·
Random people at the office are recieving spool32 errors in Win98. I have tried reinstalling Win98 and also the print drivers for their computer. The problem still has not gone away, and I am wondering what causes these errors and most important, how to fix them?

Here are some suggestions:

Run SCANDISK (of course)
Delete all the files in the Windows\TEMP and/or TMP folders
Delete all~*.* files
Change the Printers > Properties Spool settings to RAW on the Detail tab.

Here?s the MS Article. Type the Q number in the search box at technet.microsoft.com

Greetings!

Spool32 errors are a royal pain. No doubt about it.

Simply turn off spooling. In the days of older, slower processors that would almost grind to a halt when you were trying to print, spooling was almost essential. Now, it's benefits are hardly noticeable unless peopel are printing huge documents.

On each machine, go to Start|Settings|Printers and then select the default printer, right click, select properties, and go to the details tab. There you will find a button that says 'Spool Settings' Click on the button and deselect the radio button for pooling by selecting the radio button that says "Print directly to the printer"

Your errors will vanish and only the must grumpy users (the ones who complain about everything) will complain/notice the differenc in printing speed.

Humbly submitted,
diabetic
