spoolss.exe Application Error

By abailey101 ·
Can anyone point me in the right direction with the followoing error:

The instruction at "0x00000073" referenced memory at "0x00000073". The memry could not be "read".

I have tried removing all of the printers and adding them and reinstallingthe NTsp6a.

The printers in this profile are HP950c, HP8100dn, HP4. Each of these printers are connected to the network with Axis units.

The last 2 times the error occured she was not tring to print.

You may have a corrupted file or two. In the %WinDir%\System32 folder there should be both a spoolss.exe and a spoolss.dll helper file. I'd try replacing them with fresh copies.

Locate a current copy (11/23/99 Ver 4.0) of spoolss.exe and spoolss.dll - your SP6a CD would be a good place to look. Stop the Print Spooler service, then rename the files currently installed in the System32 folder to temporary filenames. Move the new copies of these two files into the System32 folder and restart the spooler service. If it's not too disruptive, you might want to do a full restart of the server, but it may not be necessary.

The problem eneded up being the HP 950 series printer drivers. They did not like being used with an axis unit
