Spotlight – new window

Hey Guys,
I am a Linux (with Gnome) User who is forced to use MacOS at work.
I do not want to start a war here or sth, but it feels to me like an super unproductive os..

One of my main Problems atm is how to start a new window with spotlight, or even better a Open-Source Spotlight alternative… Any ideas?

I’m reading https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/186377/make-spotlight-open-new-instance-of-application-instead-of-going-to-application and like it for explaining that this is more about OS X than Spotlight. Even so, they seem to have found a solution.
