Spyware

by jdbrown . Updated 18 years, 9 months ago

I am convinced I have some spyware on my PC but cannot identify ti. I had a strange occurrence where a number of windows opened at once. I found 3 reduced windows which cannot be expanded and no porperties can be obtained from.

The taskbar shows them with an icon that is a chequered blue and grey square with a yellow name field across it with what looks like the letters DWI. I am not sure what this is and cannot find anything in task manager or on Goggle. I plan to check the registry but its a bit of a needle in a haystack without knowing exactly what I’m looing for.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Jared

I’ve checked some more and it appears the software is ‘webdmi.exe’ described as ‘Compaq DMI service extension’ how do I establish if this is malicious spyware marauding as legitimate software, I see some comments referring to installation location, and if so how do I remove this software?

Thanks in advance

Jared
