SQL Challenge

Hi everyone!
Can anybody tell me if I can run Microsoft SQL 2000 and Microsoft SQL 7.0 on the same W2K server?
I need both versions for two different apps.
Problem?
Any comments and suggestions would be mighty welcome.
Thanx!!

Are you using Advanced Server (clustering)?

SQL 7.0 cluster and SQL 2000 cluster cannot coexist on the same two nodes.

You should be able to uncluster SQL7 first and let it run as a stand alone default instance, then cluster SQL 2000 as named cluster instance.

If you're not using Advanced Server (or clustering), you should not have any conflicts.

This is from Technet article 278612:

"If you want to have both SQL Server 7.0 and SQL Server 2000 on the same computer, SQL Server 7.0 must be installed first as a default instance before SQL Server 2000 is installed. If SQL Server 2000 is already installed and you want to install SQL Server 7.0, you must uninstall SQL Server 2000 before you can install SQL Server 7.0. "

hope this helps
