SQL database errors.

By Tom_Brown ·
We are having a problem with our SMS Console workstations connecting to the Site Server. We have recently moved our SQL to another server and now the SMS Administrator Console on the workstations cannot connect. They keep trying to connect to the old server. Both servers were reformatted and reloaded. We are running NT Server 4.0 SP6a, SQL 7.0 sp1, SMS 2 sp1. The workstations are NT workstation 4 sp6a. We are not using DHCP. At a lose and looking for ideas! TIA

Have you registered the new site database in the Admin console?

If not open the SMS Admin console and select the Systems Management Server. Go to Action->All Tasks->Connect to site Database. Follow the wizard.

Already tried this before posting the question. Keeps connecting to the old server.

Try to use the SQL's Client Network utility first to make sure that you have the entry for that database and it points to right machine.

This did not work either. Says that the Site is unavailable.

Charles V. said that a man who knew four languages was worth four men; and Alexander the Great so valued learning, that he used to say he was more indebted to Aristotle for giving him knowledge that, than his father Philip for giving him life.
