Forgive me if this question is not worded properly but I am no DBA by a long shot. I am a IT Business Analyst with a project (well part of a larger project) to extract data from one SQL database with key fields into another SQL database (new application) with the same key fields with a few others.
If someone that is SQL proficient can help me ask the right questions to get this done I would be greatful. However, I know it can be done, I just need to know what I need to know to figure out how. Oh and here is another bit of information, the database (old system) has 9 years worth of data, maybe I can convince them to only extract the last 3 years if necessary.
