SQL Express memory consumption..

..is much much higher than MSDE. Keeping the database the same, the memory used by SQL Express(as shown in Task Manager for the sqlserver process) is 220 MB; when I had it running with MSDE, it was 70 MB tops.

What is going on? is there a way to set a limit ? I ask because most of my workstations are XP Professional with 256 MB of RAM.. so resources are quite constrained already.
