SQL logfile

By tbinh ·
I have one database on SQL server 7.0 eg abc. For db abc, I have2 files eg:
abc_data.mdf and abc_log.ldf. Now size of file abc_log.ldf too large, I have tried to use truncate function but size of file abc_log not change.

Help me please ?

Back up your database and log. Then use BACKUP DATABASE with TRUNCATE ONLY option in Query Analyzer. That will clear entries if your log file is full. But it will not shrink the physical size of the log file. If you need to do that you will have to use the DBCC SHRINKFILE command.
