I administer a small (1 W2K server/6XP clients) network that uses an accounting software package called Accpac. This app uses a SQL server and I’ve been having intermittant periods of trouble. This may just be a W2K prob. When I first installed the server, we had the problem of the server freezeing when clients tried to copy data from a network share. Upon examination, one of the clients was trying to move GIGABYTES of data. I thought that the problem was one of size. I unshared the network share and all that the clients really transmitted was when the posted their records to this Accpac application. Last Wed, this action started freezing the server. The event lo showed an event ID of 2022, which I surmised had to do with the disk needing either a defrag or scandisk. I did both, I also updated the server’s BIOS, NIC card driver, physically removed a modem that we weren’t using, disabled the antivirus on the server. This didn’t help. I upgraded the server’s video driver and the problem semed to subside.
The prob was always when the clients submitted something to the database, there was a write eror (according to the Dell rep) I’m a bit lost as to which way to turn.. Someome, Please help me. Thanks
