SQL Replication

By jknox ·
I have maintainence plan in place that is backup the transaction logs along with the database information, even though that option is not specified. I know this because of the growth in the total size of my backup is the the transactionlog plus thedatabase. What could be causing the transaction log to be taken as part of the backup?

SQL Replication

The transaction log contains all the transactions that are already applied to the database and those who have not been applied yet, depending on the status of the database when it the backup was done. When the database hits a checkpoint, it will apply all the outstanding transactions to the database. Therefore the transaction log is vital part of the backup.
