SQL Server 2005, Processor Scheduling & Memory Usage

By adam.chiarotto ·
Hello All,

I have a server that is used mostly by MS SQL 2005 with some minor file distribution.
I recently upgraded it from 2GB to 4GB RAM as I noticed that MS SQL 2005 was using over 3/4 of the RAM almost always and had a 1.5GB+ pagefile.
However, after the upgrade, the RAM & pagefile usage is still the same and now there is 2GB of RAM not really doing anything.
My question is basically would the Windows Server 2003, Processor Scheduling and Memory Usage options have much to do with this as they were both set to be adjusted for best performance of background services, not programs.
Should this be changed and what can be done to ensure more efficient performance?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
