SQL Server - Invalid OLEVERB

By mbtainton ·
A SQL Agent job that executes a DTS package to perform a basic database copy from one server to another has started failing with "Error string: Invalid OLEVERB structure".

We've checked MDAC versions on both servers and the agent has permissions on the SQL Server\80\Tools directory. The agent runs as a low priv user and has no problems running other jobs.

The DTS package runs fine when executed manually. We've done registry and windows security comparisons between this server and others that are fine and found no differences.

What does "Invalid OLEVERB structure" mean and why does this error occur?

The article showed me how to get info about error codes but doesn't explain what OLEVERBs are or what causes an invalid OLEVERB. I appreciate the effort though.

Col,

Thanks for your prompt reply but your articles didn't really help me. The articles explain how to translate the error codes but the header file only has the line "Invalid OLEVERB Structure" for the error number I get. I still don't know what causes an Invalid OLEVERB Structure or really what an OLEVERB is.

Hi;

I do not have the resolution for you, but have locate how the OLEVERB structure is built :

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/wcedcom/html/cerefioleobjectdoverb.asp

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the help. It seems to be a permissions issue of a scripting directory. Shame Microsoft can't provide helpful error messages.

Well perhaps something on this URL might be of some use to you.
