SSH

At the place I work, there is not a dedicated server. There is a computer that has a external hard drive attached to it. All of the computers here are connected to one another so that a T1 line, files, as well as access to the external hard drive are shared. With this kind of setup, could SSH client be used by a remote computer for two way data traffic to the external hard drive?
