Stack overload

By hhjaxfl ·
Hello
After installing a Visioner Scanner and a pci USB card,when I boot up the computer I get "terminating Thread due to a stack overload problem. A VxD,possibly recently insalled has consumed too much stack. Increase settings of minsps in system or remove recently installed Vxds.There are currently 6 sps allicated." message that tells me I need to adjust my stacks, where are they and what is a good adjustment number.
Thanks

You increase it in the [386enh] section of your SYSTEM.INI file (located in your Windows folder). It looks something like this.

MinSPs=6

Try changing it to 12.

Open the system.ini file (via START/RUN/REGEDIT), go to the [386Enh] section and add the following line:

MinSPs=8

then reboot the computer. If the problem recurs, increase the stack pages by 4, e.g. to 12 or 16.

This problem is not related to the STACKS= statement found in the config.sys file. View the Microsoft info on this at:

Sorry, that should have read: START/RUN/SYSEDIT, not REGEDIT. Apologies.
